March 21st 2009 - Janice Brabaw, a Hermon
native who’s been living for the past seven years
in Brooklyn, was in town for a quick road show.
This performance took place at the Partridge
Café in downtown Canton. Brabaw read only one
poem from her successful debut book, Universe,
Disturbed, concentrating instead on more recent
material, some of which had been written in only
the past few days. Brabaw is an excellent reader—
her delivery radiates passion, humor, and a sharp
eye for detail. A 2001 graduate from SLU, she
has several new books coming out, including her
prose memoir, And Again: A Life Disordered. Jan-
ice was supported by the poetry of a few members
of SLAP (St. Lawrence Area Poets): John Berbrich,
Nancy Berbrich, and Valerie Harrington. Check out
her website at www.janicebrabaw.com for more
information.
